Neoliberalism – The Break-up Tour
Premiere: 7.30pm, Friday, 9 June 2017
The unwinding of Neoliberalism comes under the microscope in this new interactive performance by playwright Sarah Woods and the New Weather Institute’s Andrew Simms, staged for the first time at the opening of the 2 Degrees Festival 2017 at Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Street, London, E1 6AB.
Having toured the world in triumph for decades, playing to packed houses of adoring fans from politics, business and the media, the glory days of neoliberal economics are coming to an end. It’s time to park up the neoliberal tour bus and find a new way forward.
Where did it all go so right? How did it all go so wrong? With the impacts of climate change, poverty and inequality growing, and a political backlash all threatening the fabric of civilisation, can we move forward rapidly enough to prevent disaster and bring about a better future?
In this performance, author and political economist Andrew Simms and playwright and activist Sarah Woods take us on a whirlwind, unfinished tour of our collective economic fate.
